Word of Encouragement (04/08/2022)

Here is another evening prayer of Baillie’s to finish the week:

“O LORD, you are most wise, most great, and most holy. In wisdom and power and tender mercy you created me in your own image. You have given me this life, you have given me all I have, and you know where and how I live. You have surrounded me with gracious gifts and situations. You have written your law within my heart.

“And in my heart's most secret chamber you are waiting to meet and speak with me, freely offering me your fellowship in spite of all I have done wrong. Help me to take this open road to peace of mind. Help me to approach your presence with humility and reverence, carrying with me the spirit of Jesus. Help me to leave behind all anxieties, all wrong desires, all thoughts of malice toward others, and all hesitancy to surrender my will to yours.

In your will, O Lord, is my peace.

You are all my heart desires.

Whom have I in heaven but you?

And there is nothing on earth that I desire other than you.

“In your presence, O God, I cannot think only of myself, but also of others:

Of my friends, especially of _____ and of _____;

Of those I have worked or played with today;

Of those who are in sorrow;

Of those who are bearing the burdens of others;

Of those who are alone in difficult or remote situations, working in lonely outposts of your kingdom.

“You are the one God and Father of us all; be near us tonight and graciously watch over us. Hear my prayer for Jesus’ sake. Amen.”
